Most parents call us after months of trying on their own. The door closes more than it used to, school got harder, and the kid you know is still in there and will not come out. We work with teenagers and with their parents, and it starts by getting your teenager to talk.

  • Counselors with school-system experience
  • Two San Antonio offices plus online sessions across Texas
  • Insurance accepted with Anthony, self-pay from $125

What brings families in

Parents usually call after months of trying on their own. Nothing here has to be a crisis to be worth an hour with a counselor.

School and motivation

Grades sliding, homework wars, or a kid who used to care and now says nothing matters. We work on what is underneath it, not just the assignments.

Worry and big feelings

Stomachaches before school, spiraling thoughts at night, shutting down when things get hard. Teens learn what is happening in their own head and what to do about it.

Anger and conflict at home

When every conversation turns into a fight, both sides usually need a new script. Counseling gives your teenager one, and gives you one too.

Friendships, identity, and belonging

Social media, changing friend groups, and figuring out who they are. A neutral adult who is not a parent or a teacher makes that easier to talk through.

A hard change

A divorce, a move, a deployment, a death in the family. Teens often carry these quietly and tell a counselor things they will not say at the kitchen table.

Faith, if your family wants it

Faith can be part of the work or stay out of it entirely. That is your family's call, and we ask rather than assume.

Who your teenager would see

Leigh Wiesehan, LPC-Associate

Leigh Wiesehan, LPC-Associate

Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, supervised by Leigh Rainwater, LPC-S. Works with children and teens.

Leigh works with younger clients who are not always thrilled to be in the room at first. She is patient, easy to talk to, and good at building the kind of trust that makes the second session more useful than the first.

Anthony G. Peay, M.A., LPC

Anthony G. Peay, M.A., LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor, Texas #89195. Four years counseling inside the school system. Founder of Pursuing Joy PLLC.

Anthony spent four years as a counselor in schools before opening the practice, and teenage boys in particular tend to open up with him. Parents often call about a son who will not talk to anyone; that is a conversation Anthony has had many times.

What parents ask us

Will my teenager talk to a counselor?

Often more than they talk at home, and usually not in the first ten minutes. Counselors who work with teens expect the wall and know how to work with it. Give it three sessions before you judge it.

What stays private between my teen and the counselor?

Your counselor will explain that clearly at the start, with you in the room. The general shape: teens need some privacy for counseling to work, parents stay informed about direction and progress, and anything involving your child's safety is always shared with you.

Do you take insurance for teen sessions?

It depends on the counselor. Anthony is in network with the plans listed above. Leigh is an associate counselor and is not on insurance panels, so her sessions are self-pay from $125. We will make sure you know the real number before your first appointment.

My teenager does not want to come. Now what?

Call anyway. That is a normal starting point, and half of the first conversation is figuring out how to get a reluctant teen through the door without a battle. Some families start with a parent session.

What ages do you work with?

Teenagers and preteens, and Leigh also works with younger children. If your child is closer to college age, Anthony works with young adults too. Tell us the age when you call and we will point you to the right person.

Can we meet online instead?

Yes. Secure video sessions are available anywhere in Texas, which helps for families juggling school, sports, and two work schedules.

You do not have to have the right words for it

Call or send your number and we will take it from there.
